American Robin in a Natural Environment
This is the photograph which allowed me to really reflect on how to balance colours within an image. Initially, I wanted to boost the greenery in the image to emphasize the natural feeling of the surroundings around the American robin. I did this by boosting the green slider. However, after looking over the image, I decided that I should tone down the colours, as they began to look artificial. I lowered a lot of the colours in the image, even to the point where the bird began to blend into the background. This was also incorrect, as the environment now looked drab.
My final take on the image was to try and keep the colours as accurate to the original as possible. By brightening the photo and nothing more, I was able to make an image which highlights the robin and its environment the best, by just making it easier to see. I began to understand that sometimes I do not need to overdo the editing in an image, and I can just let the natural colours work.
